Supply Chain Inventory Planner

SUMMARY

The Inventory Planning Analyst will be responsible for the inventory forecasting and purchasing functions to ensure product lines are managed to meet company sales and profitability goals.  The Planner will analyze inventory situations and may develop or use procedures, best practices and independent judgment to determine outcome.  This position requires strong decision-making, analytical, attention to detail and follow up skills.  Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instructions on strategic buying shifts. 

 

FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES

 

  • Manage designated product categories toward company sales and profitability goals.
  • Responsible for strategy, forecasting and continual analysis of product inventory.  Determine product mix at various price points and monitor individual item performance.
  • Recap and analyze actual sales results to plan and forecast sales and inventories on a weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual basis to influence future product development and pricing strategies.
  • Develop a high level of competitive awareness.
  • Identify potential inventory problems and take appropriate actions to bring quantity to desired level.
  • Forecast, review and revise inventory purchases to maintain optimum inventory flow.
  • Declare overstocks or closeout items based on collaboration with the category manager and adherence to the inventory calendar schedule.
  • Communicates effectively and promotes information sharing between teams and departments.
  • Understand and participate in company vision and core values.
  • Supports administrative functions of the planning team.

  • Ability to define, analyze, research, resolve, and communicate problems
  • Critical Thinking skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, and to prioritize tasks, in a fast-paced environment
  • Dynamics, Great Plains, Smart Zone and/or Power House background preferred
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong math skills

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s degree or 2 years’ experience in Inventory Planning or related field.
