Residence Counselor PART TIME/WEEKENDS
Part-Time position working weekends. Applicants may apply to one or more locations in Utica/Rome and surrounding area.
POSITION SUMMARY The Residence Counselor is responsible to implement the IPP, attend to individuals’ personal care needs, oversee the individuals’ safety, keep nurses advised, participate in Agency activities, transport and accompany individuals’ on activities and assist in daily housekeeping and other facility-related duties and maintain documentation.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Activities include but are not limited to the following: • Promote the individuals’ independence by implementing the Individual Program Plan. • Attend to personal, self-care and other program needs that the individuals cannot independently accomplish. • Oversee the safety and well being of the individuals. • Advise the nurses regarding the individuals’ medical and dietary concerns, dispense medication, if certified. • Participate in activities as part of the treatment team that may include meetings, trainings and committees. • Transport and accompany residents as required for appointments and community activities. • Assist in the daily housekeeping and laundry routine, report house damage and complete work orders; clean wheelchairs, clean and gas-up ICF vans. • Maintain documentation as required. • Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Agency’s culture, values and mission. • Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards
Requirements:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE • High School Diploma or equivalent. • Up to 1 year of experience. • Ability to meet physical requirements • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License. • This position has regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities) or OMH (Office of Mental Health). as.
