Basic Purpose of Job:

Develop, plan, and implement recruitment strategies and activities to attract qualified applicant pools for agreement craft and Operations Management Trainee positions. Activities include college recruiting for entry level management positions. Build relationships with key sources of candidates in assigned territory including colleges, community resources, and other sourcing channels. Manage end-to-end hiring selection process for assigned vacancies ensuring consistent application of company process, selection criteria, and policy. Ensure hiring objectives are met including identification of best quality candidates, on time delivery of hires, diversity, and compliance with government reporting requirements and laws.

 

Accountabilities:
  • Develop, plan, and implement recruitment strategies and activities to meet hiring objectives for assigned territory and job vacancies. Build relationships with key sources of candidates in assigned territory including colleges, community resources, and other sourcing channels. Plan and implement special recruitment marketing events to build knowledge of Union Pacific and its career opportunities.

  • Manage end-to-end hiring selection process for assigned job vacancies ensuring consistent application of company process, selection criteria, and policy. Activities include posting jobs, screening resumes, testing, selection interviews, candidate assessment and facilitation of selection decisions.

  • Ensure that hiring objectives are met including identification of best quality candidates, on time delivery of hires, diversity, and compliance with company process and standards.

  • Build collaborative working relationships with field transportation management in assigned territory, other internal service providers, and external vendors. Lead problem solving initiatives when hiring process objectives are at risk.

  • Develop strong knowledge base of local labor markets and candidate sources. Generate ideas, suggest candidate sources, and develop source channel relationships to improve recruitment efforts.

  • Develop strong knowledge base of agreement craft jobs and lines of progression, job skill requirements, and pay rates.

  • Manage special projects as assigned.

  • Build relationships with college placement offices and faculty to assist in identification of best quality candidates. Present information sessions to classroom and academic organizations as requested.

  • Develop and implement recruiting strategies to attract and identify high quality candidate pools for management vacancies. Initiatives may include external recruiting campaigns, college recruiting, and various military/job fairs.

Required Education, Training, Experience or Skills:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree or other Bachelor level degree

  • 1 year(s) experience / knowledge in hiring / recruitment

  • Basic project management skills

Preferred Education, Training, Experience or Skills:
  • 1 year(s) experience / knowledge in EEO

  • 1 year(s) experience / knowledge in Human Resources

  • 1 year(s) experience / knowledge in Labor Relations
