Job Summary:
The Senior Mechanical/Structural Engineer researches, develops, designs and tests structural components and systems for use in mining equipment.
Essential Job Duties:
Researches, designs, analyzes, and specifies tests of welded structural components, steel castings, and processes.
Develops Finite Element (FE) model and performs calculations to analyze and determine structural integrity, system loads, and fatigue life.
Develops fabrication procedures and processes, testing requirements, and repair procedures to ensure that structural system components meet specifications.
Reviews and approves design of welded and cast structural system components or directs modification of truck components to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
Assists Design Drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or Computer-Assisted Design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software.
Trains, mentors, and develops Engineers and other personnel on fabrication processes and procedures, resolves structural failures and system malfunctions, and provides technical information.
Works with suppliers to obtain component information and establish component specifications.
Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to analyze and provide technical recommendations and design changes.
Specifies type and size of raw materials.
Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, project specifications, field reports, test data, and FE analysis.
Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
Provides feedback to other Engineers on customer problems and needs related to structural components.
Works independently and as a team member with other engineers, designers, and production personnel or on ad hoc projects.

Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (BSME/MET) with six years Pro-E / Pro-E Mechanica experience and six years
design experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in welding specifications and castings is a plus.
