The Business Director is responsible for establishing the company as the category expert and as the key strategic partner at Wal-Mart. The Business Director coordinates with the Wal-Mart platform team to ensure ongoing relationships and additional sales opportunities and is expected to achieve a category growth rate consistent with the specific account goal, maximize sales volume and margin, strengthen brand presence and enhance relationships with platform account. 
 
 
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
* Develops and executes strategies that will maximize SKU listing, sales volume and margin results.
* Partners with brand and product marketing and category managers to identify new product needs from competitive analysis and/or as a result of account strategy.
* Develops and executes pricing and promotion programs in order to order to maximize sales results, including volume and margin goals
* Adapts the retail coverage requirements to the changing market in order to meet service and profitability goals (on accounts with retail services coverage by UI)
* Effectively communicates with other departments regarding proposals to ensure that customers' requirements are clearly and completely communicated.
* Demonstrates leadership and ability to develop people.
* Works with brand and product marketing to analyze business by brand.  Assists in the development of and executes trade marketing programs in order to maximize product performance within assigned category. 
* Identify areas of improvement in the company and assist in creating and implementing solutions
* Keep up to date on market trends and new products and stay abreast of industry matters through third party resources and networks
* Identify and investigate growth opportunities for the company
* Ensures account presentations, internal meetings, and cross company communications are managed and executed flawlessly.
* Develops key relationships with the account and maintains contact with account to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
* Ensures in-store performance measurements are in place and are achieved (on accounts with retail services coverage by UI)
* Establish additional events to supplement VMI programs and/or corporate force outs
* Ensures category strategies and initiatives are supported and executed.
* Develops accurate and timely forecasting and work with logistical functions to guarantee on-time delivery and meet account expectations
* Work to improve key performance indicators (KPIs) including safety, quality, production, cost and development.
* Must understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times to ensure a safe work environment.
* Maintain and produce monthly KPI reports.
* Comply with all company policies and procedures.
* Other duties as assigned.Required Skills
 
* Ability to develop and execute trade, pricing and promotion programs
* Understanding of category management and consumer-based data
* Excellent negotiation and presentation skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills.
* High level of organizational skills.
* PC skills (Spreadsheet, word processing, presentations).
* Ability to communicate effectively with all levels both internally and externally.
* Strong execution, organization and planning skills
* Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem solving skills
* Ability to work in team environment
* Solid understanding of Wal-Mart Retail Link system Required Experience
 
* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related discipline is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.  MBA a plus.
* Minimum 8 years work experience in consumer products industry is required
* 4+ years direct account experience with Wal-Mart
* Minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
* Previous experience in Lawn & Garden/Insecticide/Pesticide or seasonal category helpful
